Working in the landscape, I have embraced silence and deep immersion.
Everything around us is constantly communicating with us.
In spending time in solitude in the landscape, I find an entrance into working closely in relationship and communion with something larger, something cosmic and unknown.
Through a slower process of painting, the works have become increasingly rooted in and inseparable from the place where they have evolved over several months, the Taunus mountain range in Germany. They are the traces of a meeting that takes place and deepens over time. As the body attunes itself to the landscape and the mind becomes still, there is a blending of the physical and nonphysical, the visible and the invisible, form and the formless, self and landscape.
Within the context of modern life, these paintings represent the deep need and longing for larger perspectives beyond our human-centered ways of knowing and way of life, and the striving for universal connection.

Devenir Paysage
by Yves Berger
on the occasion of the exhibition
Ne me demander pas comment
C’est possible à la peinture
De porter la terre qui nous porte
Seul le sanglier pourrait encore
De son groin et de ses poils
Remuer ciel et terre ainsi
Voir non pas une vue
Mais le frottement des éléments
Offert au toucher de nos yeux
Pourquoi une distinction existerait
Entre cet arbre et plan pluie
Ruisselante le long de ses feuilles
Les ramifications sont sans fin
Depuis l’herbe au pied du peintre
Et ses doigts au cinq nervures
